Arctic Climate and Cryosphere (북극기후와 빙권)

Arctic regions are important as an indicator of global warming, experiencing the fastest warming and sea ice loss due to ice-albedo feedback. This region is also important due to its possible impacts on the Northern Hemisphere mid-latitude climate through changes in the atmospheric circulation. Changes in Arctic precipitation can also influence global climate by inducing changes in freshwater inflow into the Arctic Ocean, which in turn affect the deep-ocean circulation. Therefore, understanding polar climate change is crucial for reliable future projections of global climate changes. More researches are needed on this issue, including the causes of the rapid Arctic sea-ice melting and its impacts on regional climates, and the space-time patterns of the recent snow cover changes and the associated physical mechanisms.
